THE INFLUENCE OF MUSIC ON ENGLISH LANGUAGE - MUSIC AND SONGS IN TEACHING ENGLISH VOCABULARY USING DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES (PART 1)
After knowing
the different songs that can apply in the classroom and in the learning process
of a second language. We have the VOCABULARY 💯
Students should be given an opportunity to use new vocabulary in practice while listening to a song. There is no question that new words need to be integrated into existing knowledge – mental lexicon. For this can apply different activities for example matching, sorting, comparing, combining, etc.
This is the best-known and most popular activity.
- Have a goal, whether it's vocabulary, prepositions, or whatever.
- Don't do three or more cloze in a row.
- For lower levels: give the first letter, omit word endings, give hyphens for letters, or give a glossary.
- Give vocabulary clues or synonyms for missing words.
- Have students work in pairs to predict the words before playing the song.
- Insert additional words that students will cross out as they listen.
- Repeat several words in a row and students will have to guess not only the form (adj., adv., n., vb, prep.), but also the words, rhythm, and rhyme.
